Sinus Infection Remedies

Are you suffering from a sinus infection? If you are – are you considering running down to the drug store to purchase an over-the-counter medication? Well, after reading this article, the furthest you will have to go is your kitchen. Your kitchen holds many sinus infection remedies that you can use to take care of the problem.

First off, it will be beneficial for you to drink a nice hot cup of tea containing any of the following herbs: Echinacea, astralagus, Oregon grape root, eucalyptus, or lemon balm. All of these herbs pack a mean punch, and can get you on the road to recovery in no time. These herbs are also well-known bacteria and virus killers.

The best thing about taking sinus infection home remedies is the ability to mix and match. Therefore, allowing you to experiment to see which ones are more effective. Drinking plenty of fluids is also recommended, preferably orange juice and/or water.

You can also get some eucalyptus oil and put it into a bowl of boiling hot water and inhaling the steam. If you have a steam vaporizer, you can use that instead; inhale the steam for about ten minutes, doing this will open up nasal passageways in minutes.

Ear pain is also prevalent with sinus infections; there are home remedies for that too. The use of certain essential oils can clear up ear pain in no time.

Mix two tablespoons of Pure Almond Carrier Oil, Five drops of Lavender Essential Oil, five drops of Pine Essential Oil, five drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil and five drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil in warm water, which can then be put inside the ear at least three times daily.

In the case of facial pain, you could mix a drop of Eucalyptus Essential Oil, a drop of Tea Tree Essential Oil and a drop of Pine Essential Oil together again with warm water. Soak a clean cloth in the mixture and apply the warm compress on the face to alleviate the pain.

A sinus infection can also affect your ability to sleep. A great way to remedy this problem is to sleep with your head elevated. This allows you to get sleep while still promoting drainage, thus, keeping your sinuses clear. Blowing your nose when the mucus is ready to come out will also take that heavy feeling away from the nasal cavity area.

Taking garlic is also a great sinus infection home remedy. Garlic juice or capsules can be taken, which has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. You can also chop up some fresh garlic, put it into a bowl with some hot water, and inhale it two to three times a day.

Apple cider vinegar can be substituted if you do not have garlic. The potassium in the vinegar helps to reduce the production of mucus. Drink a cup of hot water and two teaspoonfuls of apple cider vinegar up to three times a day.

Although these home remedies for sinus infections are known to work and are highly effective, always consult a physician if things get worse.
